    I have worked for the public service and for private entities big and small, here and abroad and when it comes to the public service what I saw was that people genuinely think that:

    1) the world can be simply divided into US and THEM,

    2) that what they are working for the common good even when the interest that they are protecting is a private one mascaraed as a public one, and

    3) that the routine into which they are immersed is there to stay unchallenged forever.

    Again, from my personal experience I can tell you that big firms, specially the ones having a monopoly or that operate in a oligopoly tend to be full of inertia. For them the solution always tends to reside outside specially in the political sphere, where the deals to bring the money in are done.
