Fair point mydogfritz. But Iraq is not as far away from production as every one thinks. The issue there is obviously the ongoing turmoil. That is actually being fueled by Iran which includes dissidents slipping over the boarder etc.

Once this new treaty is signed by which the US will effectively "own" Iraq (next month from memory) they will just simply remove Iran. They won't want to occupy it just bomb it into the stone age until it is incapable of feeding itself.

They might also carve off any oil potential nearby. The Jews will happily do it for them anyway. Once that is done Iraq will fall into line very quickly without external aid. The US has picked off the Middle East one by one starting with the defection of Egypt.

Once those three powers above are removed you effectively rule the Middle East. Did everyone really think the US was going into Iraq without a real plan? That they would willingly economically "ruin" themselves? No, the US "knew" what the plan was from day one.

You can say what you like about the US but they are no ones fool. That is why they are No.1. They will have full production up very quickly and with it dominance in the world’s energy supplies. Why else would they hold back alternative energy sources?

The world has been forming up into power blocs like the EC around the US so it appears they have decided to create their own by "colonizing" strategic resources. This way they will not only keep their military edge but also their economic.

Sorry I could go on all night and continue expanding the above but put simply it really is in the US's interests to keep oil high as they will soon be making a real bundle out of it. VASTLY more than what the war ever cost them which really was a drop in the well. Pardon the pun.
