yes i look at it somewhat the same. i dont believe gold/silver is better than fiat - 'sound money' and unbacked fiat are 2 extremes - neither is perfect
for me its about recognising when you;re at one end of the pool and the pendulum needs to swing back the other way
ie gold/silver are undervalued vs nearly all other asset classes on historic norm basis
i dont buy them because i want to run around with silver coins in my pocket.
i buy them because they are cheap - and i try to apply some thinking to working out exactly when to buy them for best results
i dont buy much physical at all - I primarily buy miners that offer the leverage to maximise outcomes and because equity is ownership
