Hi Octain, Just a thought on Bill Wild. Like you I believed he was the man for the job and I have some sympathy however for him to now say that Hastie had a culture of no bad news, makes me a little cranky. He was there since October and didnt pick up on this? He didnt make any changes to the reporting structure to ensure that nothing got missed, especially after the middle east fiasco? Did he learn nothing from what happened in the middle east and why would he just assume that everything was ok with the australian arm of the operation when it clearly hadnt been in the middle east? At what point did he think they had a culture problem - before or after it fell over. If it was before, what did he do about it and if it was after, why in goodness name did he not notice. After the middle east I would have thought that all attention would have been on accounting practices and the process of getting info through the company. The chain of command is only as strong as its weakest link afterall.
The final washup of what really happened will make for interesting reading
