The way it works is that bogus companies in Nigeria plant bogus blue gum forests and generate carbon credits. They sell these for cash to stupid countries like Australia and New Zealand. From time to time inspectors from Australia arrive to check the forests are real. The Nigerians take each inspector to the same plantation over and over again, they just change the numbered signs on each plot. Inspector ticks the boxes and we hand over a whacking great cheque for nothing.
