Spare us! SHY's not "sobbing" again, is she? Could this woman get real?? (And of course the leftie rags such as "The Age" (forgive me, great grandpa, who used to be one of their leading typsetters) are in paroxsyms of delight - something to write to prop up their fast fading, weakly supported paper -
I must take SHY along for a cup of Dilmah sometime - with some of the Sri Lankans I know - the ones who are hard workers, whose parents and grandparents have been here for yonks. Who came here and started from bare scratch, some of them, post war - for the sake of their kids - and worked their way up - integrated into our community. Some of whom are Tamils, descended from reputable Colombo families, and many Christians - a highly regarded community.
Perhaps she could take up THEIR cause - these people now all being Aussies - and ask immigration (under whichever government - its been so, for decades) - WHY such respectable, established, good living families, here - have to take up a family collection, and put down a solid cash pre-paid departure guarantee deposit ($20,000 cash last time I heard) - plus provide accomodation, food, shelter, and health insurance for length of stay - this deposit forfeit should their holidaying visitors from back home, here just for a holiday, a wedding, a funeral, a birth, or just a sentimental family re-union visit - fail to fly out on the pre-allotted arranged day of their temp. visitor visa?
WHICH Tamil problem, they would say? The Tamil "events" are long over, and settled. What - the Sri Lankan Aussie community would say - WE pay - or have to find the money, at huge effort - to guarantee ours won't stay -whilst others just jump on boats, expect free entry and a lifetime of freeloading Aussie welfare support?
Why. SHY would be crying into her scones. But would she? NO cheap headlines to be had in taking up such a REALLY just cause as to WHY! Notice she's always in full make up for these Press events? Mascara has to be waterproof. Crocodile tears. I'd suggest.
Cheap hanky-wringing point scoring. She wouldn't know if it fell on her, to be frank.
Sooner she goes, the better. Australia doesn't need theatricals (NB - Mr. Palmer, too!).
We need fair dinkum, truthful, and dedicated politicians. Men or women. Sincere ones, who can face cameras with truthful eyes, and scrubbed faces! (A big ask - but they exist!)
