According to Wikepedia Andrew Bolt and the publishers of the Herald-Sun lost a defamation case to Jelena Popovic in 2002, the court awarding damages of $246k + subsequent punitive damages as well.

Who knows what that may mean for any penalties to be applied this time round but I guess even Andrew Bolt might be a bit worried on that front too.
