    Hi flamencojazz,

    I can see where you are coming from. But if a stock is actively being bought/sold, an algo will not likely prevent the price from rising/falling.

    One exception is at the close, where some algos will offload a tiny number of shares without care of dropping the price - because overall their average sale price will not be meaningfully affected.
