Thommo,
I bought my first gold stock in 2003 (Bolnisi @ 0.36c; sold at $3.30 - won't brag about the duds, he he he!).
In the past 5 years, I can't tell you the number of times I've thought I was buying just before a price explosion...which turned out to be close to an interim top.
By the same token, I've bought my fair share of temporary bottoms (or close to bottoms).
Regardless, in all this time, I have probably made 50-odd purchases of gold-related physical, equities and ETF's.
My equities are somewhat mixed in performance, however if I were to look at the actual gold price at the time of each of my purchases, the only one made at a higher gold price than $927 was the last one (less than a week ago).
So, while my stock-picking skills might be suspect, and my market-timing skills leave something to be desired, gold itself hasn't let anyone down for the past 7 years.
