Aurelius, I'm sympathetic to your view that too much fuss has been made over cholesterol in our diets. However,you need to be a little more nuanced in your comments on cholesterol.
For example, pretty much most of the choline that gets used to make up the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is recycled after the acetylcholine is hydrolysed by the cholinesterase enzyme. Dietary choline as may be synthesised from cholesterol plays a minimal role in providing this material.
Further, it's a little disingenuous to say that cholesterol is produced by the body with the implication that it must be OK because we make our own. Even too much chocolate cake will kill you and the same may well be true for cholesterol.
