Don't try to predict what may be hot because you will be wrong footed every time. Just try to be receptive to it as it happens.
Always look for quality fresh stories like EMC that you know will be trying to generate investor interest, to lower the cost of capital for acquisitions or NASDAQ listing in the future.
Keep plenty of cash (a little gold?) to insure against negative black swan events. High govt debt globally means the financial markets are unstable.
