Some interesting info on the recent rally: It seems like the recent rally in the large tech names in the US is down to call options buying by SoftBank combined with retail investors entering into options. The large call bets led to feedback loops for institutional option market makers who had to buy the underlying equities to hedge their exposure and explains why the indices and VIX have been rising together.
