The other thing to keep in mind is that any restrictions put into place now will not have any noticeable effect on the rate of increase in the number of cases for at least 7 days. This because in 7 days time, the people who caught the infection today become symptomatic and get tested. That is 2 doublings of cases (1200 -> 2400 -> 4800). So, by next Monday, expect Australia to have 5000 cases or so, before we may see any 'flattening of the curve'. This is why going in early and hard with restrictions is so important.
