Well the thing is most retiree's (or those approaching said milestone) have been forced into equities over the last 30 years due to falling interest rates, in particular the last decade with perpetually low rates and a lack of "low risk" alternatives. This is more prevalent in the US than here as most here as we've had (to date) the relative safety of property underpinning our asset bases post 2008. When a perceived safer alternative comes along, i suspect US boomers might take it, particularly if their share portfolio's start to fall rapidly....2008 although 10 years ago is still fresh in the mind. I wonder what percentage of the overall stock market is held by boomers? I bet it's a lot, particularly in the US. Really don't want the stock market to fall much further than here or it could be a very quick cascading event.
