Well yes, there is CG - academic books, particularly in my discipline of history. I would say that at least two-thirds of the hardcopy books in my large library were sourced from Amazon for the simple reason that many of them were not available in Australia. Also, it was often difficult for the 5 libraries at my University (ANU) to keep up with student demand for popular books especially if they were recommended texts or compulsory reading for undergraduate courses. Loans on those books would be restricted to 3 days during semester and 24 hrs during assessment/exam time, so many students decided to pool their $$ and buy the text from Amazon rather than rely on the library.
