In 2017 i believe the XEC and XSO will be the beneficiary of higher inflation and bond yields after coming off a 10 year downtrend in 2016.
Great write up @Anton Chigurh I have a very similar investment style to that of yourself.
My pick for best performing sub sector is med tech which has formed a bottom in most markets now and has a lot of head room for 2017.
My top stock pick for 2017 is NTI in which i am of the strong belief that it will be the darling by mid year.
