@mirren she's mid 40's, but you don't need to be young and naive to get caught up in dodgy get rich schemes. Just have a need for which someone holds out hope and promises.

@Vitor, your experience and solution resonates and that's they way I've been thinking about it. I appreciate hearing that story. Also, my understanding (subject to further research) is that having some product is the fine line between an illegal pyramid scheme and a multi-level marketing scheme. Same dodgy sales process involved, just a fig leaf of legality in the latter.
