Yep I got caught exactly like that with GBG back at circa 8 cents.
I was just a beginner but I bought 550,000 at around 8 cents. All the books told me to use stops and so I did.
I was played. Without me even knowing about it my stop was triggered and then the price rose back up. I ended up only holding 260,000 of the original 550,000, the remainder having been sold in the mid 7's.
Eventually I sold the 260,000 at 14.5 only to see GBG go way up over $1.50 or something, I don't remember how it went as I stopped looking.
Now I don't trust stops. I think you need to work on discplining yourself, mastering yourself and then use your judgement rather than leaving it to few simple rule sets to decide on your behalf.
If you are watching, you will see that it is being played, there is no way an automated stop can see that.
