Australia was apparently ranked 16 for Broadband Penetration by Country in 2008. However, have a close look at the list:
“Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Korea, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Canada, United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany ,United States, Australia”.
I believe that 9 of the above countries could be fitted into Australia’s back-yard with no one knowing they were there. More importantly Australia is ranked just behind the world’s number one economy (United States).
When the Government ran Telecom and the OTC Australia was number 21 in the world so I guess Telstra (private enterprise) must be doing something right.
Australia ain't doing that badly without a government NBN and under private enterprise it will do better.
