Trump is not the great negotiator he likes to think he is, he thinks he holds all the aces and doesn't consider the other party might have a few aces up their sleeve. Case point with Musk! Trump also goes for a win/lose strategy and he doesn't like to lose, the concept of a win/win strategy is lost on him even though that can produce the best outcome. As they say you attract more flies with a teaspoon of honey than a gallon of vinegar.
