The IPs of Lani is held by Biota, which now is a US registered company. In the event of flu emergency, the US government can just set up the production of Lani to produce as many Lani as they need and give biota nothing because the Law allows that.
It is good to sell the IPs of Lani to a big pharmas outside the US so that if the US produces Lani without the authorization, the company can sue the US government for ip imfringement.
IMO, biota has fallen into thre trap of those cunny people again, they now can conserve Lani for emergent use. They do not want Lani to be in the market because once on the market, Lani will be widely used like it is in Japan. Potential resistance issue would develop sooner if any.
Just my thoughts.
