The Burbanks Mill

and to start out
some insightful comments from Fitnfam



I have been trying to get a handle on the Burbanks plant.
So Many buyers and potential buyers in the past, then often apparently left dormant.
I am beginning to wonder if ownership of the Burbank Mill is more about the threat of another contract miller in the area to ensure toll milling access from existing players in the area when required.
If so then $4.4m may actually be a real bargain at current Gold prices(e.g.the profit on 2000oz from Munda),if it guarantees that access,when any stray low grade stockpile is currently money awaiting banking, if only you could economically get it through a mill.
That brings me to the TAILING's dam.
If historically the grades milled were around 14g/ton then potentially at 93% recovery they may still hold 1g/ton or better.
Technology has changed along with recoveries over the last 25yrs.
Are the tailings the next Auric mine, ????
As far as I can make out it just had two stage milling and a coarse gold circuit,carbon in pulp circuit.
Just wondering
The best information I can find is the mill was optimised by Ramelius to handle above 4g/ton remnant stockpile ore from Olympic dam area in 2007 to get cash flowing from surplus stockpiles without a milling home.
Not sure but feel most of that ore was milled elsewhere.
Does anyone have a link to greater,more up to date information on the plant itself and its historic yields ??
I am beginning to get a sense of why Macquarie took a stake,after the mill deal was signed and another party has been accumulating since then as well.
