    The original plan played into TLS hands by not really giving a clear cut alternative so it was easy for TLS to maneuver around with cable and wireless etc.It also kept the value alive in the copper network.
    Contrary to what some posters think FTP means that Telstra does not own the last link into the home anymore.

    Now look at the pricing in europe/UK for unlimited (truly) all included phone calls international etc it is truly amazing.
    The economics have been propped up by over reliance on the TLS copper. Now that will be removed- TLS has no monopoly or pricing power.

    My only reservation is that the economics may not stack up given that the declared intention of the NBn is not just to increase coverage and performance , but also bring down costs.

    Will the govt change their mind about pricing given that it has declared that it wants to flog the network off? The NBN has to make money to be saleable doesn't it?
