France banned it, and a couple of days after muslims with angry faces were plastered all over the headlines world wide, and despite the medias attempt to incite a heated reaction, the issue has quietened down. Dubai even issued a message to it's citizens to respect other country's laws.
Everyone moved on, except those that have political motivations.
