Some people believe that if you write or speak in a pompous manner, it will add to the credibility of what you say.

If a poster constantly trawls the internet for bits of information about a company, then tries to promote positive conclusions from that information (note - never negative) - by putting a pompous spin in the post it can make you sound like you know what you are talking about - even when there's no logical connection between the information and the conclusion.

Politicians are often very good at it.
