GTE has reclassified the Byrah basin into the Byrah Ophiolite (where a wedge of oceanic crust was pushed up over the continental crust)In this case that was the Yerrida Basin. the volcanic host rocks of Degrussa have been regrouped into the Yerrida as part of the Killara Formation. The Growth Faults show where rifting was centred during the formation of the Yerrida and where the volcanoes will be localised. The hydrothermal fluids that formed Degrussa were probably very hot(>300 deg C), mixed meteoric magmatic fluids requiring the deposit to be located near volcanic centres and the underlying magma chamber "hot spot" to provide magmatic fluids and the heat required. GTE believes the "intersection" of the growth faults will facilitate the emplacement of magma and the development of volcanoes which provide significant heat and magmatic fluids to drive hydrothermal systems for VMS mineralisation. Growth Faults accommodate the rifting (pulling apart of the continental crust). There is a N/S growth fault that extends from a junction in GTE's area C (and beyond)right up to Degrussa. There is another growth fault junction near the Degrussa end of this growth fault. IMHO very interesting for nearology tenements along these growth faults. Please note I am not a Geo. Merv
