A wholesale swing to nuclear energy will provide a face saving "out" for the AGW proponents. Once it's found to be cheaper than much of the piece meal adaptation of so called renewables, the politicians will have something to sell the public on. When it takes over as the major source of energy, and the feared AGW scenario recedes, they will have the added bonus of being able to claim they were right all along, and it was the introduction of nuclear energy and the reduction in CO2 emissions that averted the disaster. They need to get their timing right though, but I doubt it can be done within one term of government. :-(
