A 50% drop in house prices (I don't think many bears would expect it to go that far) will not result in a 50% drop in taxes - it may in fact leave room for an increase in stamp duty tax.
If house prices drop by $50,000 on average let's say .. then the government could lift stamp duty another $5,000 on average/house.
