What if your assumption that 'top dog' for China is guaranteed was not shared by the CCP who did a slightly more in-depth analysis and took into account their skewed population pyramid, the ongoing USA/China decoupling, the rise of India etc?
Would that give them some incentive to assist their long march towards 'top dog' status?
