By the way we have a Social Democracy in Aus whether you like it or not:

Just read the definition and compare/contrast with that of Aus:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_democracy

The USA is struggling with its transition to a Social Democracy (eg its health system etc)

We have private property, socialised education & healthcare, Government owned rail, roads etc,
Government owned NBN & electricity infrastructure etc.

We has a welfare state : aged pensions, unemployment payments (re-distribution of income) etc etc
Our Government intervenes via our legal system re competition policy. work relations etc.
(not the silent hand of the market ala Smith)

So don't kid yourself , we're a hybrid capitalist/socialist society which is gradually changing as
per the will of the people. Occasionally some vested interests may skew our democratic development
but over time our Social Democracy manages to maintain an even keel. Periodic changes in government assures that.
