The ABS will for the first time retain full names linked to the data. The reason given is a crock. It is a massive invasion of privacy, pure and simple but you can be fined if you don't comply.
Many pundits are predicting there will be thousands of households inhabited by Homer and Marg Simpson. Certainly at our household. Given this revelation we cannot trust the ABS with any data we give them. I've always completed the census honestly but not this time. There is absolutely no reason to store names other than for sinister reasons.
