I have done some more research on Dr Seyfried and his cancer therapy. Some say he is a quack, but his credentials are good. His theory that cancer starts as a metabolic disorder is not particularly controversial. His press pulse cancer therapy aims to starve cancer cells of their energy sources, glucose and glutamine, which is reasonable. However he has been refining it for more than 10 years and if it was viable it should have taken off by now. It appears starving cancer of its energy sources is not a practical approach, at least currently. The first stage of his therapy is putting patients on a keto diet. If I was diagnosed with cancer, I am not sure I would use keto but I would seriously consider including fasting in my treatment. Apparently it improves outcomes in chemo and radiation therapy, and reduces side effects. Another component of his therapy is hyperbarbic oxygen that possibly has benefits for some cases.
I still believe the biggest risk for this stock is not its products failing but competition from other treatments. If I was a mega rich pharma out to buy the next cancer wonder drug I think I would try and avoid a big up front payment, and instead offer a bigger royalty on sales.
