IMHO the USA economy is totally tied to maintaining it's role as the world currency standard
If it lost that, then the USA would be in all sorts of trouble and China is not a democratic country so they can do anything they feel like doing, whereas the USA still has a very vocal public and media voice to criticize each move it makes so China cannot be relied upon to do the right, safe thing
