    Survivor... John Castran

    Survivor... John Castran

REAL estate agent John Castran survived an avalanche in New Zealand while heli-skiing in 2009 and now he's surfaced from a manic late-night buying spree of apartments in Glen Waverley. Castran, brother of Toorak agent Paul Castran, was swamped one night last week from 7pm until 2.15am while cashed-up Chinese buyers splurged $40 million on apartments in the 10-storey Ikon building. ''I've never seen anything like it in my life,'' Castran said. Since being buried in the NZ snow, intrepid Castran has been heli-skiing again, saying: ''You've got to jump back on the horse.'' His next alpine adventure is when polo players saddle up for the annual Geebung Polo at the Cobungra Station on Easter Sunday. Based on the Banjo Paterson poem, The Geebung Polo Club, the mountain cattlemen take on the cuff-and-collar team on brumbies that have never played polo.

Yep the bears know the market.
