Just in the news China has overcome the problem experienced with new hyper velocity drones, they line the outer surface with carbon foam making it possible to absorb the shock waves and reduce the friction for those high velocities. Also they noted other benefits the carbon foam has given them I.e. it can withstand high temperatures and it can absorb radiation and keep it undetected, crafty Chinese. I know this is off topic on the real important ongoing break through in building product development that we are holding out for but carbon foam has just lined up another valuable product line. Imagine the other defence companies that will latch onto this.
