I'd rather have them on my side than not. That is one of the obtuse variables of investing to have in one's favour.
Regarding CR, SYR originally said that they expected to debt fund the capital needs. Later on they added the possibility of some offtake funding. They have never mentioned much, if anything, about equity funding. Although, realistically I expect a combination of all 3.
Marubeni are the most likely for offtake funding. They are something like #304 on the Forbes 2000 list with billions sitting in cash at the moment.
