Better to spend taxes to keep people out of hospital as far as possible!

As to the ABC it is an integral part of our democracy.
It has a charter that requires it to be impartial and
a Board that reflects that. The fact that it operates under
successive govt’s of different ilks basically means there can be no one
side that could manipulate its operations.
Every democracy needs a national broadcaster because the commercial
media is open to manipulation by its owner barons and cannot be relied
on to cover issues across the country because it’s core goal is only to turn a profit!
In any event our ABC is the most trusted media in the land and so the
fringe conservatives that want it shut down are just doing a bit of
head banging that achieves no purpose.
Your campaign to shut down the media we the majority most trust
is doomed to failure. Our National icon has served us well. By all means
make suggestions if you feel it could operate better. That would be the
rational approach.
