Politicians give away property and money they dont earn. They also tax it and take it if it suits them. It matters about how this is done. Pollies worry about their position and job, so if it cost someone else to pay for their mistake or promise, so be it. Open Borders was a classic. You rarely get very good outcomes from govt since they dont have the experience to deliver in the real world. Not always, but mostly. Cost blow outs, rorts and corruption blow costs out on everything from road projects, entitlements like the NDIS and the NBN. When a different govt tries to recovery the loot, all hell breaks lose. This comes from the implementer of the project in order to protect themselves and the people who benefited. I have heard of some dandy rorts in the childcare and NDIS space. Its astonishing and a lot of it is in the Suburbs of Sydney. Figure out that demographic for yourselves. That isnt being racist, its just about the facts from the people doing the work to prevent it. If people dont like the truth, that's their problem. The bad guys want to curb free speech as a means to cover up their own incompetence and rorts. That is the history of the world. Twitter shows us just how much the left value free speech. Labor want to curb free speech with the disinformation act. I guess the irony of disinformation is lost on them. Govts routinely BS and lie to the public on a daily basis. Where is the law that makes them accountable? If pollies were banned from lying, no one would hear from them much and the media would go broke.
