theistic forget about the bible you can give it the flick as it has nothing directly to do with the question. Whether the Bible is true or not doesnt make any difference to the argument about absolute evil acts like the rape and murder of a child.

the only reason I mentioned the Bible was to explain an opposing view. If i would base an argument that rape is wrong because the bible told me so then i would be a nut.
    This evidence lies elsewhere.

I said that others may have an opposite view. I stated my view.

But your claim that it is absolutely wrong for someone to rape, that claim you make is supportive of a creator... you are affirming a theistic belief.

So its also a theistic view. I can live with that.

If there is no God(whomever that may be ) then you cannot have an absolute moral.

If you believe this, fine. To me morality comes from a human sense of what is right and decent. Christianity has had a rather mixed contribution to this in the past - good and bad. I don't go along with the need for God to behave in a moralistic manner. There have been good and bad atheists and theists.

You espouse an atheistic world view and I am sure you are a very decent individual with high moral standards and probably altruistic in nature my friend.

Thank you for the complement. I don't think I'm that wonderful. I have my warts and have done and said things that I'm not proud of.

But and its a very big but. Once you remove God and to avoid being an intellectual hypocrit you do not have the option of saying "you aught not to do this" in any absolute sense.

I don't agree, but respect you view.

If you honestly and carefully think through the logical consequences of your Atheistic world view the correct answer to the question

Is rape absolutely wrong...is actually NO. It not absolutely wrong.

I'm absolutely convinced that rape is wrong. I'm happy to live with that because of the suffering that rape causes.

Without a God you cannot have absolute morals, sure you can have damn high relative standards but not absolutes.

This is the trap that you mentioned but its making is borne deep in the logical sequalae of your world view. My questions just focussed you on the trip wire mechanism that has jagged you my friend.

Sorry but its a reality you must live with, without a creator you cannot have absolute morals, only relative man made conceptions about morality.

You are talking to a person who thinks that all morality is the product of human thought so this is not relevant to me.

Does this gel with your reality whereu...do you have deep inside your conscious maybe just one moral absolute that you could never accept as anything but absolutely evil, not just relatively wrong??

To me this is a meaningless question. I told you that I am absolutely sure that rape is not moral for the reasons stated.

if you do then you aint being consistent but contradictory in your world view. It is incoherent.

I don't think it is, but respect your view.
