The overwhelming success of HCTV has many XJO punters asking "Who is Disco Stu?"
A rags to riches to rags to riches story, the chronicles of Disco Stu weaves a rich tapestry of hope and courage that should inspire us all.
Born Dimitry Stukowski, he was the son of Ukranian corn farmer Stanislav Stukowski who grew a subsistence crop on the outskirts of Kiev. He was on gas rich land and Gazprom soon made him an offer he couldn't refuse and became an overnight millionaire, shortly after he met & married his soul mate Miss Universe entrant Ivana Chopyakokov.
Scandal and controversy were never far away however as reports of infidelity between Ivana and a high profile Miss Universe judge started circulating , these reports were uncategorically denied but the scandal took it's toll and the Stukowski's were forced to flee the Ukraine and migrated to the western suburbs of Sydney.
Dimitry was born soon after.
Eager to assimilate into western Sydney culture, they changed his name to Disco Stu. His early days were greatly influenced by used car salesman on Parramatta Road's Golden Mile and he set about building his empire, selling his first Datsun 180B at the age of 6.
His mother Ivana denied he was being groomed in any way, shape or form but there was an underlying current that plagued Stu for most of his life.
Over time, his father Stanislav distanced himself and father and "son" became estranged which caused Stu great angst, he even started growing corn in his backyard to try and bond with Stanislav, but to no avail . Still, he became his own man and his empire grew.
His success quickly unwound however, his decision to buy all the Leyland P76 franchises in Australia and convert them to corn based biofuels led to a deleveraging that would see the receivers called in.... which ultimately lead to his financial demise.
Humiliated, he led the life of a hermit in the back streets of Auburn and drifted into the soft porn industry. He featured in a series of failed low budget movies but got his break under avante-guarde film director Soman Chainani, he gained cult status within Qantas and became a big hit on the Oxford St strip.
He vehemently denied that the film content was biographical but the Thesbian tag would stick. Again, this caused Stu great angst and eventually the shame became too much and soon Disco Stu would disappear from the landscape, rarely seen, rumour had it that he was a regular at the underground opium dens of Lidcombe but dressed as Frank Furter to hide his identity.
Stu had hit rock bottom.
But there was someone watching and waiting in the wings however and while watching an episode of the Apprentice he was surprised to receive an invitation to the US from a distant admirer.
This saw Stu get his break with HCTV and he hasn't looked back since. Eager to shed the Thesbian tag, a recent interview has him quoting " I spend most of my money on whiskey and women... and just waste the rest".
Disco Stu was back, bigger than ever and now trades the XJO with great verve and vigour.
The morale of this story is even at your lowest ebb, when things seem down and out, don't be afraid to play your trump card!
Last reports were that he was eyeing distressed car dealerships and growing corn again.....
