All of their US revenue is generated from inpatient procedures. Hospitals are paid under a diagnostic-related group (DRG) system for the patient's hospital's stay rather than paying for each individual service. Major hospitals, such as the Clevland Clinic, use BTM because of its clinical efficacy and cost savings. BTM is currently not approved for outpatient procedures, which are paid for based on individual service.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is currently evaluating their payment system for outpatient procedures.
