    Sorry to hear that Semi. I have 2 close friends who also have your condition. One is wealthy and doesn’t need to work and has matters under control mostly. The other is a very busy guy who needs to keep the bucks coming in and also tends to let things slip quite often. He is now minus a few toes and part of a forefoot.
    A question for you please - If the research by Betacell ends up being successful would you put your hand up for implants?
    Just asking as it seems that there would be a finite period before the implant loses its effectiveness. The numbers quoted ranged from 100-150 days in porcine studies.
    Assuming that isn’t improved upon then you would be up for 3 to 4 per year. It would be a reasonably simple and straightforward day procedure that may only require a few stitches but over time scarring would obviously become some sort of issue.
    Would the knowledge that you no longer have to be tied to your diabetes kit and be able to go on a holiday / weekend away etc overcome the stigma of scarring and the hassle of having to present for the procedures a few times a year?
