Matt Canavan has been busy posting and tweeting fudged figures to prove burning coal is the cheapest form of power generation whilst also admitting Nuclear SMR is the most expensive. What he’s also hiding is the fact it only appears cheap when it applies to burning black coal in the existing old crumbling coal fired power stations. The requirement to build new coal fired power stations makes it exceptionally far more expensive than renewables not to mention it’s never going to happen as he conveniently ignores climate science. Matt, we aren’t building coal fired power stations anymore.
