Lithium Ion took 28 years from concept to commercial production from 1970s to 1991. It took another 20 years to get the scale up in order to reduce costs. If you even took 1/3 the time for this new molybdenum battery to reach parity with current chemistry it will be another 16 years. Who knows what the world will be like in 16 years, so take the professors with a bit of salt, they release outlandish claims to try and attract funding knowing fully well that there is a 95% chance their invention will never be commercial.
