Manufacturing, good socio/economic programs and a population with a great work ethic.
I have visited Germany regularly since the 1980s on business & holidays and I'm always amazed to see the specialist factories in smaller towns & villages pumping out quality products to supply the major manufacturers or finished products ready for the consumer.
Of course German consumers, unlike us, are very loyal to their domestically produced products and are only too willing to pay a premium price for premium products.
