Agree wholeheartedly. As for the possibility of nuclear war --- don't dismiss it out of hand! There are some real megalomaniacs holding positions of power States side (and I don't just mean Trump. Blinken has always been a hawk. Biden too was up for every foreign military adventure throughout his career. Just more politicians of much the same stripe).

If they think they can hit the other side with a knock out blow and avoid getting hit themselves they might just risk it. Besides, nukes would not be used (immeadiately) on population centres, but "tactically" on the other side's capacity to make war. Of course in such a scenario Australian facilities would most certainly be targeted --- Port Darwin for sure also North West Cape and Pine Gap. Others too?

In the short term, though, I agree that intensifying economic warfare is much more likely --- plus any other actions that they deem likely to weaken the other economically or in their capacity to wage war --- like avian flu or swine flu, (ie.starvation ---- nearly happened coincidentally whem Donald was trying to squeeze a favourable trade deal out of them).
