IMO its better to simply address the topic and ignore the trolls.
They have nothing intelligent to add to the conversations, IMO.

From the fall of the Iron curtain in the early 1990s to the GFC
the US global hedgemony was not challenged. the USA
during the late 90s-early 0s was picking up new Nato ex/USSR
East European States which put pressure on Russia; first the threat
of it loosing Sevestopol (Crimea) and its land isolation from Kalingrad
due to the independance of the Baltic States in the 1990s.

This potentially crippled Russia's two major navy ports.

Both Russia & China pushed back on US expansionism:
-China set up its BRI & its artificial islands in the South China Sea
& Russia took the Crimea and threatened East Ukraine.to take focus of the Crimea grab IMO.

Add to that the US economic woes due to an expensive M/E war and its GFC and resulting
sovereign debt and and the China-Russia forced marriage and you have the picture.

To a reasonable person it must appear that the USA is in retreat on all fronts from its
privileged 90's position and IMO it has itself to blame:
-the exporting of its plumb manufacturing
    -its over-reliance on imports
-its tolerance of multinationals/wealthy individuals stuffing tax free profits on offshore tax havens
-its enormous expenditure on a lost M/E war
-its deregulation of financial markets which caused the GFC
-its continuous printing of money rather than fundamentally rejigging its economy.

So, IMO, the USA iscausing its own demise & not as Trump and others would have us believe
that China or other external forces are the cause.

The bottom line is that the USA was "it" (no significant competition) in the 1990s but it shot itself in the foot both militarily
    & economically since.
