IMO we should be gearing up to defend ourselves whether that be fromChina, Indonesia or others instead of relying on the USA who have strange attached.
This is why we should be growing our economy and preventing others from ripping us off so that we can afford to defend ourselves.
It is silly to have over 3o% of the top 500 businesses paying no Aussie corporate tax. If we tax multinational corporations on their Aussie revenue and not on their self declared profit, then we can afford to defend ourselves.
If multinationals dont want to pay Aussie tax, then let them go elsewhere and the business left behind can be picked up by good corporate citizens.
If we tax multinationals properly, then, IMO, Aus can collect at least another $50 billion a year. Over time this can build a proper defensive system which will minimise US political "influence" on Aussie Governments.
