watso's parents/uncles/aunts lived through german occupation ... probably lucky that they lived in rural communities .. watso's father should have been sent to germany to work ... but he sort of lived in a roof top - on a farm... mmmm two uncles were eventually nabbed and sent to work in germany - but they got easy gigs .. lol lol chopping firewood and doing the gardening for german women - whose husbands had been sent to the russian front - and probably dead .. lol lol lol -- apparently what would happen, is that the local police would do their job and make enquiries about the whereabouts of local youths who should be working in germany .. but nudge nudge/wink wink - no one knew where they were .. anyway , eventually two uncles (youths at the time) were picked up by the germans as they tried to run away from a roadblock.... mmm lucky that they were only picked up - because the germans would shoot/kill, in retaliation , a few people if a local was involved in any sabotage .. anyway, mom's parents had a forbidden radio, that picked up english broadcasts.. for what it is worth, but watso's mom would say that "one could not see the sun - because of the american bombers during the day - on their way to germany - and then it was the british turn at night" for what it is worth - but the germans lost the war - because of the russians .. the western allies - helped a bit.. the russian juggernaut was relentless . from memory - the germans suffered 80% of their causalities on the russian front .. once the russians understood that japan was not a threat on the eastern front - they could send fresh troops to fight the germans .. no wonder the russians call ww2 - the great patriotic war .. anyway - SAND ART by kseniya simonova for whatever it is worth - but americans have never had to defend their own country - they defend their country by fighting endless overseas warsVIDEO

Whilst not taking anything away from the Russians in their fight against the might of Hitler's Germany, the USA needed to cross the Atlantic ocean twice in order it could, again, come to Europe's aid against German thugs. Whilst all the Russians had to do was stay at home and let the bitter cold of the Russian winter do the rest!
