And how smart are the French - and in particular Renault - leaving Russia a car plant complete with robotics for 1 Rouble - all about sanctions.

Now, the Russians have rebadged the factory as Moskwick and slowly working on restoring software to run the robotics. Meanwhile a comparison of two Moskwiches - one a petrol ICE, the other an EV. The EV costs over $10k more and on the test run the question was asked as to why would anyone fork out so much more for an EV - the answer - 'emotion' - ie for a feeling. So, buy on feelings, nothing more than feelings?

But wait, isn't that motto already been taken by Toyota?? And what happened to the spiel of saving the planet - what spiel, it's seems it's more about a feeling.

My gut tells me and I can visualize that I'd feel good knowing $10k can stay in my pocket:

But wait, there's more - when asked about how long it takes to charge up the Moskwich, it seems it really is very quick - at a fast charger it was quoted to take only 8hrs - only 8hrs - almost as fast as getting the car from 0-100km. So, plug in - plenty of time to watch the video as the car is charging - note the cabling from a unit by one lucky owner's car:

Note that there was no hyped up sales pitch. It would have been nice to take the EV car on a long range test - with a sale lady like in the video it would have been a pleasurable trip. But she would have probably declined to go, the range anxiety may have put her off. It would me. So as for EV smart, perhaps smarter to avoid. But if you think EV's are a smarter choice, go and buy - beware though, don't outsmart yourself by losing $10k on a feeling.

As for the French pulling out of Russia - perhaps a case of one man's rubbish becoming another man's treasure. AIMO

The US Government has launched its latest campaign against Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs), claiming the data collected by certain cars can pose a national security risk.

As reported by Bloomberg, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo made the anti-Chinese EV comments amid increasing tensions between the US Government and carmakers which rely heavily on China for production.

According to Secretary Raimondo, EVs and autonomous vehicles are “collecting a huge amount of information about the driver, the location of the vehicle, the surroundings of the vehicle”.

“Do we want all that data going to Beijing?” she added.

A Commerce Department official later told Bloomberg that Ms Raimondo’s comments reflected an ever-increasing focus from the US Government to reduce national security threats, which it believes could come from leaked personal data.
